 Before Surgery

Patients who have their procedures performed at Coral Gables Surgery enjoy the convenience of a centrally located facility with easily accessible parking, and a streamlined registration process. CGSC offers an inviting and comfortable environment designed for efficiency, comfort, safety, and privacy.     The instructions below are provided to patients general guidelines. Your physician may also provide instructions specific to the procedure being performed. Contact the center with any questions.

     

    What to do and expect Before Surgery ...

  • Notify your surgeon before coming to the center if there is any change in your physical condition, such as a cold, fever, or a wound near your surgery site.
  • One of our nurses will call to conduct a preoperative assessment. If no one has contacted you 24 hours before your surgery, please call the Center. The surgery schedule often changes due to various factors. Please call the Center between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm one day before your scheduled surgery. Monday patients should call on Friday afternoon.
  • If you wear contact lenses or glasses, bring case for their safe keeping. We provide containers for removable dentures and bridgework.
  • If you are undergoing general anesthesia be sure to not eat or drink anything after midnight. Failure to strictly adhere to these instructions may result in cancellation or delay of your surgery.
  • If you are undergoing monitored anesthesia, the night before your surgery, do not eat anything after midnight. Up to four hours prior to your arrival at the center, you may drink clear liquids (water, apple juice, or black coffee without cream or milk).
  • You will receive specific instructions regarding medications during the preoperative interview.
